Lytham life boat and wind

The aims of the Lifeboat House are:

To celebrate the story of Lytham crew who saved many lives on the night of the Mexico disaster, and the influence the night played in the development of the RNLI.

To create living history-telling the story within the actual fabric of the building whilst still allowing visitors to experience the building itself; to reconnect the building and the visitor with the outside-te estuary, the slipway

Internally the Lifeboat House will be treated with sensitivity and with the majority of the exposed building structure remaining mainly untouched.

A modern structure will be introduced to carry various levels of interpretive media - with its design cues taken from the boathouse slipway
