Lonie Lozano’s first project, and the first to reach the construction phase, marked an exciting milestone. Situated on a challenging site, sandwiched between two existing buildings, the project demanded exceptional precision and a versatile design. A hallmark of Lonie Lozano’s work has always been a collaborative approach, and in this case, close coordination with the design team led to the selection of the construction and structural solution. Light Gauge Steel (LGS) was chosen as the construction system, offering the accuracy and precision needed to address the tight spatial constraints.
Cut back into the slope, with the rear of the building housing the bin store, drainage systems, and an accessible lift, all within a very small footprint. Despite the limited space, careful planning ensured that these essential features were seamlessly integrated without compromising accessibility or functionality. This efficient use of space exemplifies the project’s ability to meet both practical and design challenges in a constrained urban setting.
