One of the aspects we most enjoy about working repeatedly with RTX as a client is the opportunity to collaborate with the same design teams. This consistency fosters a seamless workflow, where ideas flow freely, leading to exceptional outcomes with greater efficiency.
In this case, the client required a new 7,000m² industrial unit within their existing grounds to expand factory production. The project also included new parking facilities, staff premises, and a complete refurbishment of the existing offices. The only available land within the grounds was near the road, which posed urban design challenges. Additionally, the site’s topography required all new constructions to maintain the existing floor level. We transformed these challenges into opportunities. By designing a partially-underground unit, we minimised its visual scale from the road, addressing urban integration concerns and reducing its impact on the surroundings. Furthermore, the client’s request for a greener proposal inspired the inclusion of a green wall along the road and neighbouring houses, softening the building’s presence. This approach broke up the large industrial scale and its repetitive rhythm, creating a more inviting and visually appealing facade.
Quick and effective feedback from the engineering and landscape teams enabled us to refine the proposal, resulting in a solution that far exceeds the typical expectations for an industrial unit.
